Why should you get the flu shot?

The best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get vaccinated every year. The Center for Disease Control recommends that everyone 6 months and older to receive an injectable flu vaccine before the end of October. By getting the flu vaccine yu can reduce flu illness, doctors' visits and missed work and school due to flu.

Who should not receive the flu shot.

1. Individuals exhibiting flu-like symptoms the day of the clinic, including fever, fatigue, sore throat, muslce aches, chills, coughing and sneezing.

2. Individuals with a history of severe allergic reaction to the seasonal flu vaccine.

3. Individuals with an allergy to eggs or egg products.

4. Individuals with a history of Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

5. Individuals with an allergy to thimerosal ( a mercury-based preservative).

6. Individuals who are immunocompromised (weakened immune system) or are taking immunosuppressive therapy.
